    This is terrible :(

Mr Hazzard said health authorities were grappling with households reticent to reveal one of their members had COVID-19 symptoms... He said households in these situations might be worried about their income if possible exposure meant their main breadwinner may not be able to work.
NSW Health has confirmed four people with COVID-19 have died at home.

Does anyone know how information in Sydney is being communicated to people/communities from non-English speaking backgrounds?

Eg, I can search websites for info, or i can listen to free to air TV/radio.
    But I speak English.

There is info on NSW Health website in different languages, but can non-English speakers actually navigate to those sites in the first place?

At the top of the NSW COVID website is a My Language button which translates the site into the language selected.

Community leaders have also been involved in spreading the messages through their cultural networks.

And I’m sure those groups have mobile phones and social networks in their own language.

Do you have other suggestions as to what else would be effective and well targeted?

I'd be livid if they did this !
If you are that lazy that you can't make the effort to get the jab then you shouldn't be entitled to any future government assistance (no dole-pension-medicare)

There's Google translate even if it's ½ right you'll get the message.

We don’t even know if it’s true! No point in getting angry about it.

*also to clarify the grammer, "I'd" is the abbreviation of "I would", We use would as the past of will, to describe past beliefs about the future

I haven’t checked but I understand that SBS has a lot of COVID information, in 63 languages.

I know it is government media and …

Maybe not everyone has a computer, a smart phone and/or a TV?

I don't know the answer to this.

But I know that Victoria copped a lot of flak last year when they first locked down the apartment blocks, before the general lockdown. They were heavily criticised for not providing information in other languages, to the point that there were appeals on Facebook to provide translated information for residents. I'd be guessing that governments would be more aware of this now.

In this pandemic crisis there will need to be lots of ideas brainstormed to get us out of this hole. Some will be implemented and some won’t.

Some countries have been giving a pack of eggs to encourage people to get vaccinated!

One approach won’t scoop up everyone.

And it may be annoying to miss out on a pack of eggs etc if you were an early adopter (as I was when I got my first shot 3 months ago) but we just have to get everyone vaccinated.

They all know what is happening, it is they just do not care.

How many do you really think have no child, niece, nephew, grandchild etc that does not communicate with them.

This is also the problem now, everyone should integrate into our society, not us have 50 or whatever working groups to go explain everything to a handful who refuse to take on the country they move into. IMO.

Unfortunately, there were many issues that needed sorting out for the vertical cruise ships - partly due to the sheer number of people involved

    Welcome. :)

I'm guessing you can't ask your solicitor (assume you re using
I believe some (many?) come from countries where they don't trust the government. But I also think there must be younger family members who are listening and understanding the messaging, have mobiles and access to news, and surely could be ensuring their parents and grandparents understand these things.

Then I guess it comes down to families really not being able to put food on the table, and pay rent if the pay isn't coming in.

Either way, it is tragic that for whatever reason, this is creating havoc in Sydney.

    True.
I'd be happy to see a carton of eggs offered :)
Or maybe just the idea of "doing tbe right thing"
At least you know egg's might be put to good use (eaten or tossed in the direction of a politician ;)).

In this day and age is paying/rewarding people a good idea ?
Isn't the vaccine reward enough ?
Should they start to fine people for not getting the jab (because Aus has ordered and paid for many times more doses than we currently need) could you imagine the outcry, we have rights, you can't make us, oh we have that already

I don't feel that using tax payers dollars to promote and or encourage gambling to be a good use of funds
    -
I have heard the word conscription used (as in go to war or face jail), I have always been against the idea of conscription (as used in war time), but am reconsidering the idea for the vaccine, we already have public health orders dictating what we can and can't do, would a fine or having to pay your own hospital bill should you need treatment for covid after refusing the jab be a better idea than paying people ?
*not advocating these suggestions, but while idea's are being thrown around

It is likely that some workplaces will mandate vaccinations - as is on the way with aged care.

However, people will still have the right to refuse (as they should be able to - it’s not nazi Germany ) but they just won’t be able to work in that job without a vaccination.

There was an article on ABC online recently that a high percentage of ambulance staff aren’t vaccinated!
