perhaps @Simon Hampel can shed light on this

    I am hopeless with numbers

my guess is according to population why we are rated in this category??

Because it’s one of the most simplistic charting you will likely see. I would have thought that’s pretty obvious?

It looks like the countries are being categorised based on some very simplistic criteria. Essentially are their cases currently going up or down, compared with previous peak cases if they're in a second wave.

No doubt Australia has some work to do, but we are doing it. Suggesting we're even remotely in a similar situation to Brazil or the US is ludicrous.

Another example would be the Netherlands. Over 50k cases and currently many times more new cases than Australia, but they're getting on top of it. The Netherlands & UK had some serious problems because the reacted very late. They've still got a long way to go to achieve a recovery, a lot further than Australia has to.

I've also got to wonder about testing rates and treatment availability in some of these countries. Does anyone really believe that Haiti only has 37 new daily cases at the moment, given that they're one of the poorest countries in the world and densely populated? What's their actual testing rates?

    They
    Accurate with what context.
How could anyone look at that metric and determine its data worthy of a countries success against CV.

It’s simply putting second waves into a need to do more against prior data.

According to this China has done better than Australia.....

Or let me explain it like this.
Say you had a country of 100,000,000 people and 1 person got Coronavirus 1 month ago.

Then this week 2 people got it.
This graph would show they need to be doing more.....

    yeah nahhhhhhhhh

I got people over there. Very draconian lock downs - people opened their front doors one morning and found barbed wire had been rolled out, armed soldiers... no shopping, no leaving the house, nudda!!

    Totally agree.

But some people are handling it a lot better than others.

I, for one, am slowing coming to the conclusion that COVID might be what the world really needed in 2020.

I won’t sidetrack this thread. Might start a separate one.

It was pretty nasty. You had situations you where got one side of the street locked down with shops on the other - hence the need to hand off supplies across the line.
