Anyone have recent experience building a standard single brick garage on flat land with good site access in Melbourne?

looking at approximate cost including pouring slab, and not including driveway.

Have you got some quotes from local builders?

Ask about 6 and see what you get, remember cheapest isn't always best.

Is it with a pitched roof with cement tiles?

    Hmmm.....30K should do it.

Garages seem to be very poor value when being built on their own. Around $30k is probably about right but I'm not a Melbourne local

OK lets make it a double garage. Won't cost that much more. Park a HSV next to the VN.

Wait a minute. Connect the water and sewer. Build a kitchenette. Bingo, there's an extra $280 pw min. in income. The place will pay for itself in 3 years. Just tell the tenant not to scratch the cars or else lol.

Nice I just meant long and wide enough for the Statesman. I hate not being able to put the roller door down.

OK, got ya. They are long buggers those statesmen. Massive boots. You could practically live in one.

Many garages built nowadays barely fit new dual cab utes (Hilux etc) with centimetres to spare, if they fit at all. You'll definitely be removing the tow hitch to get it in. And these are some of the most popular models of cars sold.

A 6m x 3m size garage should do the trick. Just don't swing those vehicle doors too far out!

A Ranger is about 5.4m add a bullbar and towbar and would be a tight fit.
Fit a tray for work or camping and you might be in trouble
Always wise to add a few extra courses of brick to lift inside roof height. No one ones to air down to park thier 4wd

Yup my Ranger Wildtrack doesn't fit in a standard garage due to it's length with it's towbar. It's a beast to park at the shops too :p

About $1 :p. It would be difficult to achieve the intended purpose though as you would need more than a single brick.
