    Hi
I have one price already from my PM but it was not divided into unit/labour. While I'm waiting for any updates, what is a typical charge for labour (outer Brisbane) I would like to compare sourcing a less expensive brand myself and getting another company to install it.

Their first plumber quoted over $1600 inc GST for a 160 lt Rheem. It didn't mention which model either. I can source suitable heaters online, delivered, for mid $700s.

Tell the pm to get another quote.

There is also removal of the old one and will someone be home to recieve the unit or is it just going to be dropped in the driveway.

Angel, start with the unit you have installed .. If it's the old cooper type then the inner core is worth over 80bucks in scrap metal prices,if it's solid steel them may 5-10 bucks in scrap..
The Daughter had one installed just recently --160 litre Rheem no re-fitting for the inlet-outlets just a simple re-install for $1350..00 gst and ATO receipt wiwo..If you can screw the price down into that range then it maybe in the price range..imho..

i wouldn't recommend going for quotes that just replace tanks only and don't include replacement of 6x valves as it will come back to haunt you with call outs and void warranties due to incorrect pressures and so what.

I don't think $1600 is unreasonable for a brand name unit fully installed.

I had to replace a gas one a couple of years back and was around that.
