Can't wait till next year. I'll buy China's or Russia's vaccine on Amazon. A 3rd eye will come in handy.

Huge setback for Australia’s vaccine hopes

    you couldn't make it up

Scott Morrison said not once but twice that he had it sorted for Jan 21, all the time the manufacturer said Dec 21 along with the UK chief medical officer

He's in trouble now, he has closed Australia to the world until a vaccine that has a lot longer timeline than he is spruiking,
he cant open the country , and the country wont recover while in isolation. Total isolation was always going to be vaccine or bust

thats why other countries didn't do it. they know the timelines are too long

This isn't necessarily the end of the road for the Oxford vaccine. There's been one adverse reaction - and they don't even know if it was caused by the new vaccine or the control, and they don't know what caused the reaction. They're being properly careful, pausing trials until they can determine what caused the reaction. It's possible that it was caused by the vaccine - perhaps in reaction to an existing condition - or it may be unrelated. So it's not quite time to play the funeral March, at least not until more is known.

My guess.. there will be no vaccine til at least 2023. Based on assumption that most of the phase 3 clinical trials are estimated to be completed by then.
    The pollies have an agenda..

To be honest nobody really knows exactly what this SARS-Cov2 virus is or where it came from. There is a virus in bats, as well as a virus in pangolins, that shares similarities with it.
When you think about it, bats could have been dealing with this virus for millions and millions of years and we expect a vaccine after 12months to cure it. I surely hope so but I don't expect this will happen. Maybe a vaccine that can help certain categories of people but the disease it produces effects different humans in different ways maybe due to people with different genetics. We still actually don't know.

All I know (I believe) is this is going to be a long road not a short one.

We'll know in 4 weeks whether one or more of the vaccines in Ph 3 trials officially works and is safe. Fingers x-ed.

I’m very curious to see how this plays out.

According to this article and other reports, only 2 months safety data required for approval (this is insane!)
“The F.D.A. has also told vaccine makers that they will need to track at least half of the patients’ safety data for two months before the agency will grant emergency access. That would push the earliest possible date into at least November.”

Equally, they also mention that “...the idea that it will be ready in October is far-fetched. Even if the vaccine shows promising signs in clinical trials — still a big if — the company will not have collected enough data by then to say with any statistical confidence that it is safe and effective.”
