Yeah def; l mean we did everything here everyone else did and did all the recommendations . Yeah there were mistakes but there was in Sydney too.
l do remember some of us here did think it was too early for us reopening though and l still think it was . We weren't at the time yet at the stage of other states we weren't ready yet the whole country still seemed to be hammering Andrews to open.

Agreed, remembering that NSW had the Ruby Princess fiasco ... and Andrews was damned if he did and damned if he didn't order the open up ... some on here are still banging on about opening up, yet the result of opening to early is right in front of us now

Leaders in a democracy are always on a career knife edge.
Having said that, be careful what you wish for - there is country that claims to have eliminated covid19 - and I have no real doubts because it would not be beyond the leader to eliminate the carriers.

Heard some expert say yesterday , a country, people, can be locked down once , maybe twice , but that's it.
l tend to think the same l mean if it went on you would imagine sooner or later we'd just have to learn to live with it and get on with things.

I dont think anyone has said that lives dont matter on PC

the problem is we trying to contain the virus and its not working too well as we can see. Globally seeing the same, more waves

Economy .... well I still wonder how long we can keep doing this?? Especially now seeing evidence that we can not contain it? Is it still making sense?

    This is an interesting read

If we were able to do what NZ did we would not be having this conversation. But NZ only has a pop of 5 million

Per head of population, NZ has much smaller figures than Australia; New Zealand hasn't had the resurgence.

O jeez the great maskdebate maskdebate maskdebate..
We all know how stupid half our population is, but we expect these very people to be able to use a face mask correctly. It's completely bonkers alright

So one report from the ever reliable Daily Mail quotes one study. Amongst the conclusions - people become too complacent when wearing a mask. Most other studies have found that masks are effective in reducing infections - they can reduce the amount of virus which can get into your system.

People are complacent enough in Canberra that with dozens of customers at Bunnings today, I was the only one with a mask. And I follow other recommendations, with distancing, handwashing and staying at home with symptoms. One of the negatives of wearing a mask was that people then don't do other things properly - including wearing the mask properly.

I see that three countries which have had their leaders actively discourage masks (US, Brazil and Mexico) are in the top six countries affected by the virus.

I'd rather wear the mask, and follow other protocols properly, which at minimum won't do much, and at maximum, could help save a life.

Holland's top scientists say there's no solid evidence coverings work and warn they could even damage the fight against Covid-19

I keep reading quotes like this all the time. No wonder people don't believe in them:rolleyes: Why would Hollands top scientist say this??

The way I understand masks is that they provide more protection for those interacting with the masked person than the wearer. Having just done the shopping at Woden (Canberra) I was amazed at how many people, especially those of Asian descent, that were not wearing masks.

What do you prefer mtr? Leather or latex?
