Alot more than doubled. I entered the stockmarket big not long after that. I remember posting telling folks I was in. I made a ******** and got most of it out. Not wanting to boast too much, but profits were 7 figures.

    @MTR it's a bitter-sweet. I could have made a lot more if I wasn't so stubborn. But I can't complain.

Then we'd best get a hurry on. The more hospitalisations (and deaths) from these latest outbreaks, the more people will wake up and book in.

    No idea who SC is.

We hurry it by taking bookings and putting needles in arms.

Fortunately not - lockdowns have prevented this.

With the UK at 8% of the population infected and 2.3% case fatality rate ... and the US at 10% infected with a 1.8% case fatality rate ... if we had gone down the same path as them and seen, say, 9% infection (2.3 million cases) with 2% case fatality ... we would have had 45,000 deaths so far in Australia.

Noting that the pandemic isn't over yet and these death numbers are only going to get higher!

I will also note that only 4 countries have so far reported more than 200,000 deaths - although Peru is looking like joining that club soon as well.

My prediction posted above on 7th March 2020 did come true:
... and the cellar still hasn't recovered - it remains in ICU (Intensive Cellar Understocked) ;)

I didn’t think ScoMo was capable of acting decisively , but , what ever his other failings , he turned out to be the man for the moment , so my predictions for number of deaths was way out , but I think the gist of what I thought would happen was in the ball park .

    Cheers

To be fair though - most of the heavy lifting was done by the state premiers. From my recollection of early national cabinet meetings, ScoMo was very much anti-lockdown but was overruled by the states who forced his hand on many things.

At least ScoMo did deliver on the vaccination stuff he promised - albeit I seem to recall it took a while to get started - we were quite late to the vaccination party, but did pretty well once we got going.

With the vaccination ordering it was a matter of what ever they did , some one hammered them .

Didn’t order soon enough or enough , multiple critics .

Order too much ( because no one knew which ones would actually end up working ) , Rich counties hoarding

and of course when we had too much and it was going out of date , we’d wasted our dough …

    Cheers

Going to a funeral today, official cause of death Covid, yes, a very elderly person but there is something so terrible about reaching very old age and dying of Covid. Nursing homes are rife with it and vaccination rates are nowhere near the promised targets. Colleagues Grandmother also died from Covid, in a RCF, 6 weeks ago.
