This is what always happens. I don't know historically when this hasn't been the case. Yet most don't learn from history.

We self manage - use a couple of platforms for analysis and have around 15 stocks we know very well and follow closely.

Sorry @sash I know what dollar cost averaging means, but myself did not know what DCA abbreviation meant. Seems some others are just more clever than some of us? :D
I myself maybe tempted to dabble a bit of cash into stocks, but not yet!

@sash, I'm surprised you didn't short the ASX?

The stocks which you know well over a period of time, do you feel there are patterns and similarities in how they each behave, having their own 'personality' ? It's an interesting thing I've been reading. That historically, stocks more often than not behave a certain way over and over again. Just wondering if you're experienced this in the past. Thanks

...yeah, I didn't know what my bank account is, luckily someone else does?:D
Somehow I am not much of a gambler but with what is happening I thought I cannot pass this opportunity?
We should post our experiences past this, what do you think?;)

I saw that ($65) and was momentarily tempted.....then decided I'm best just waiting, because there's probably more downside to come.

I set up my orders the night before (in times like this) so I don't get impulsive. Only 1 out of 20 plus orders hit this morning.

We've followed the "intrinsic value" approach (Robert Montgomery) - at least it gives us a structured approach. By definitely agree with patterns and ranges for stocks - you get a good feel for when they are cheap or toppy.

Except in recent times everything looked toppy (so we didn't buy) and now everything looks cheap (and we want to buy everything) ! We also know a number of the companies quite well - not insider trading well but understand how they are tracking.
