I'm liking how they're targetting the people who need it right now.

Why would the existing recipients get it? That means a payrise for someone who has not got a job, actually about a 30% payrise. A $750 bonus was just given to pensioners et al so what are they going to do with that.....buy toilet rolls and rice? I just don't understand that.
Also the govt mentioned asset tests as well which must be met but I cant find it on their website. This Govt is really making stupid decisions in this crisis and frustrating the crap out of me.

I'm thinking 2 months (until after end of school hols) - 6 months before the collective sighs as the peak has past - 12 months before economy recovers enough to get back to normality

6+ months, although it depends how much we have underestimated the current infection rate.

massively - I'm working on the figures of "add a nought and times by 10" - which would be more realistic

This was a head scratcher for me, people on welfare are losing nothing so should be able to spend the same amount. People that will see a sharp decline in spending will be those who have just lost jobs, give the money to them to try to maintain some level of normal

Correct, the situation does not change for those on newstart, the dole, pensions etc and are they going to kickstart the economy? no they are not unless they stock up on food because all the other shops/bars etc will be closed....right.!!!! We have all been told not to stockpile. So I just don't get that part as well.

I would think those who need medical help, those who have a family and have lost their jobs and others in dire need should be first cab off the rank. I would think the homeless would really struggle as well.
I know plenty of people in WA who lost their jobs and a lot had to sell their fancy houses at a big loss in the mining downturn and they never got a cent from the govt. So just losing your job may not meet the assistance level in my opinion. The other thing will be the rorting of all of this free assistance.

might have to change my vote,

as the current lockdown, two separate announcements in a short period that contradict each other of what needs to be shutdown,

getting two of them consistent isnt that hard

    quote ABC NEWS..
QLD borders to close from midnight Wednesday

As we mentioned earlier, the Queensland Government is following some of the other states in introducing new border restrictions.

They've now confirmed those measures will come into force on midnight Wednesday.

As part of the restrictions, anyone entering Queensland will be required to quarantine themselves for 14 days after arrival.

Authorities will convene in the coming days to establish how road-based restrictions can be placed along the state’s borders.

Freight is expected to be exempt from the restrictions.

Anyone know what happen next ?.

Way way way too late. What we have is not a lockdown. It’s only a stage one closure of non-essential services. A lockdown should have happened last week. Globally there are now 3x more confirmed cases (true cases certain to be higher) and deaths outside China. Wuhan went into full lockdown with <800 confirmed cases and 25 deaths in late Jan. It took more than a month before new cases and deaths stopped increasing each day. Hospitals will be overwhelmed if we continue on this trajectory. Coronavirus: The Hammer and the Dance

I suspect Scomo smirks on TV because he is nervous and he is actually ******** himself.

I watched his speech on Sunday. I suspect he must have a new speech writer, and his twisted shirt/tie would probably mean something to anyone who reads body language.

Boris also looks like he's one breath away from a mad panic attack ... I'm sure he's thinking frantically "I didn't sign up for this!"

It seemed only yesterday it was all about a soft landing for Brexit and the harm to financial services ..

Thinking back the outcome has always been the same it's the problems investors will face before we reach that stage once all the buccaneering starts ..stay safe..
