Morrison is nowhere near smart enough to adopt the drip down effect. He will be reactive as he has always been since taking over. Although it appears to have started in China ,you can see the draconian methods they used appeared to have worked so far and reduced the outbreak dramatically. They attacked the problem with gusto and if you "missed the memo" there you got dragged out of where you were not supposed to be in a headlock

I disagree. He should, but he will leave it too late, again.

I went neutral because some things have been okay and some things have been very very ordinary.

I feel the government has been reacting the whole time, acting in response to outbreaks etc, instead getting ahead of the game by being proactive - very much like the British government, who is following in the steps of the Italian government.

The most frustrating part was that they were - and possibly still are - treating this like an economic crisis when it is very clearly a medical one. Don't confuse the stockmarket with the base economy. They should have been dealing with the medical side first and then giving economic backup ... the Japanese and British governments are both giving income support to all workers, whether they are working or not.

They should've closed the schools weeks ago to all but the children of essential workers - that was obvious - or, at least, the high schools where the kids are old enough to be left at home alone. Junior's school is doing online teaching trials with the view of closing within the next two weeks (private school) but wish they'd hurry up.

I'm not panicking but fully realise that if the government lets the medical situation get way out of hand (which they are on track to do) the economic recovery will also take a lot longer when we pop out the other end

Agree that it is a medical crisis, but the economic crisis will be much worse and that is what the experts are saying. Even though people wont die, they still have to be isolated and everything will be shut down and that just about means "everything" except medical facilities and main supermarkets and watch what happens when they cant get food to the shops. It will be a nightmare of massive proportions and financial recovery will take a long time.

I wish he'd stop saying "people should ... " and replace with "All ... will cease immediately".

People have already shown that many believe that the recommendations apply to everyone except themselves

I wish he'd stop smirking when he's addressing the nation about such serious matters.

I suspect that's his resting "reassurance" face attempt - otherwise, with no attempt, he has a resting unpleasant face

Just found this article, and I've been reading about the S Curve

'Flatten the curve': why predicting coronavirus infections and deaths is so tricky

Thank god it won't be remotely exponential

I think the govt is right to follow the medical advice but not so sure about the medical board who seem to think that their twisted logic should always defy common-sense - kinda like diabetes 2.
    Didn't vote.
I like Scomo but he's way too slow. He'll get there eventually.

Hopefully not. Predictions are indeed tricky and no one knows for certain how this is going to play out.

However, I'd have more confidence in our response if expert epidemiologists and immunologists like Professors Bill Bowtell, Raina MacIntyre and Peter Doherty were making the medical decisions and briefing the public rather than a healthcare executive come federal bureaucrat who is framing policy decisions as medical ones.
