How can I add corner postless stacker doors after my house is built. Do I need to have my builder reinforce the corner?
They are quoting me a price that seems overly high but im worried that I wont be able to get my doors put in after if the area is not reinforced. Any idea how much this would usually cost and if I could get someone to reinforce the roof after the build?

It would require steel beams or structural LVL beams installed in the ceiling to support the timber frame over the stacker doors or structural beams that cantilever over the doors to make up the corner where the corner meets. It would be much easier to do now rather than later.

If you do it later you will be paying for the carpenter to do the framing and Fixout
Gyprocker to put new gyprock and cornice
    Painter to paint the gyprock.

It could end up costing you more down the track imo.

Is it a double or single storey home?
Is it roof above the door or is it the frame upstairs for the first floor?

What's directly above the corner where you are wanting to put the CORNERLESS doors?

Is it a single storey or double storey?

If it's in Melbourne then a builder will probably charge between $5-7k for a CORNERLESS stacker system, is his consistent with the builders quote?

    15,000 is the quote for 2.4mx 2.4

Stegbar has quoted roughly 5k just for the doors and install ( and that was for 3mx3m but they said the builder may need to reinforce the roof.

How much should the builder quote me just to reinforce the roof?

    Jeeezuz!
Not sure if the roof will need to be reinforced, it will depend on the truss design and the load bearing points I guess. But $15k for 2.4 x 2.4 is ridiculous!!
We charge $6k for 2.7m x 2.7m TOTAL cost to client in our single storeys for aluminium cornerless stackers, I work for Carlsile Homes

Ok then it will depend how much wall length you have each side of the door to depend if you can use cantilevered beams or if you will have to put steel beams up in the roof

Wow the builder must be working off 40% builders margin on top of materials. That is expensive.
    $5000 for doors
$800 for carpenter to do framing and install beams
    $2000 for beams
    $700 for gyprock
    $200 paint
$500 for carpenter to do Fixout

    These are approximate prices.

If I want the sill recessed into the floor with my doors but having the doors put in after the build, how can I go about doing this? There will be just normal sliding doors put in first.

I got quoted $5.5k off newliving homes to do a corner stacker.. eventually got rid of it.. looks nice but its useless.. only looks good completely open but you'll get a million flies in the house if you leave it open just so it looks good.. save yourself hassle and just do two standard sliding doors

The concrete and tiles can be cut out later to accomodate for a recessed door. Or if the sliding doors your putting in first are the same as the stacker then just ask for the sliders to be recessed.

Without a doubt my favourite feature of my house is the corner pillar less recessed stacker door. Just wish I had of done the recess/flush with the floor.

Many told me it's not worth the extra money, but it makes my property - opens it up so much.

I love the look too. How often do you keep yours open? I was hoping to use mine for entertaining as its a small house.

How big is yours? How much did it cost?
Do you have flywire? any photos?
