My conveyancer has recommended that I undertake two additional searches for rates and water meter, Together these will cost and additional $400.

Would you recommend me paying the additional money, or is the risk of an issue so small that it's not worthwhile.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated!

How will you apportion water and rates without them?

I haven't bought or sold a house in Moreton Bay since 2010, but I would think that the rates and water searches might cost more like $40 than $400. The solicitor will require the info on these searches at settlement time anyway, to apportion the exact amount that you will have to reimburse the vendor for the number of days/kLt since their last account.

Maybe they mean that your cost for rates and water at settlement will be about $400?
