    Hi Guys,

I am an owner of RIO, ORG, STO and BHP amongst various other holdings. Im still fairly new at the investing game so please bear with me.

I have an idea to sell my resource shares and put the proceeds into QRE. I will have of course incur a realised capital loss. This loss can be used to offset my capital gains come tax time next year.

I am still long term bullish (maybe several years) on the resources sector. Would this scenario mean I can realise my capital losses and save some tax but still be exposed to a future upswing in the resource sector?
