Big fan of 600x600 or 900x450 concrete style greys (industrial goes well with the black taps) - $40sqm ish... and using 600x300 rectified white Matt on walls $20sqm.

Then running a sheet or impact tile on vanity wall, and in the niche, could be Carrara, herringbone, fish scale, hexagon etc. - Try the tile mob or cheap tiles online for these

Originally I had that hexagonal tiles all along the feature walls of 2.7m high, for all feature walls in bathrooms and powder room in the home. I couldn't justify the costs when my estimator said 'Sackie wtf you thinking mate' :D. It's a cost/profit thing. I didn't think the cost was worth it so hence looking for alternatives.

I thought the same thing as they can run anywhere from $150-$250sqm for tiles alone. That tile mob site often has sales for $5 sheet or $50sqm, Carrara hexagon etc.

if it’s from highgrove I just ordered 2 of the same as well haha

Some Great stuff there, fitting out 2x bathrooms for $4800. Reece would’ve been $10-$15k

How about skinny subways running vertically instead of horizontal. You offset lay or stack lay
    Skinny ones are like 75 x 300/350mm instead of the standard 100 x 300.

Terrazo floor tiles are also big but not so much in Perth - not sure we will ever embrace them but I do like this one - though want the vertical subways to be stacked not offset

I wonder do you think it's weird to have a greyish tile just above the vanity height and then those subway White tiles? But no recess above the grey tiles...

But I know if I go subway it will increase the cost allowed for. They are more expensive to lay....and I'm tiling floor to ceiling 2.7m Times all the wet rooms..

God your tiler must be related to mine. Everything is extra so he got the sack :p
Tell me that 300 x 600 is not extra??
So basically what you're saying is that the feature tile must be cheap/less than $50sqm and 300 x 600?
I think my vote goes to no feature tile or running the floor tile up that wall.

It's the builders tiling allowance. , smaller tiles more labor etc so that's how they justify a higher cost. Anything for them to make more money. Sigh

Lol no 300 x600 is not extra. Would be good to keep is under 60 a sqm... feature doesn't have to be 300 by 600. Could also be 600 by 600 lol. Oooor.. maybe I was thinking...a smaller strip could be a smaller tile just not the entire 2.7m...

    Muuust have a feature wallll

You could do the strip between the vanity and the mirror, this is a popular location to keep costs down. Oh but you have those round mirrors - that won't work!

    Thanks for that!! Grr

I'll see what extra costs may be for tiling considering smaller tiles for feature and try cut from somewhere else..

I'm a no on the textured tile. I think we've gone past that stage.

Those marine coloured hex are amazing! I'd use them in a PPOR

Laying small tiles, large or mosaics are all a premium if you want them to look good.

Laying floor tiles on the wall raises the issue of different thicknesses in the biscuit and more time and materials required to make all of the tiles flush.
