Interested to know how everyone get on with painting their Complex, be it Apartment or Complex.....

Color is such a personal choice and we are now going thru the process of selecting the new color for repainting. Have shortlisted to three color schemes, but each person's preference is so different from the other. How do you choose one and still maintain the harmony? Hope you can share your experience. Thanks heaps!

    You can't o_O

Committee proposes options and obtains quotes

Option 1, repaint same as existing
    Option 2, repaint in colours A & B
    Option 3, repaint in colours K & L, or
    Option 4, repaint in colours X & Y

    Cost from company $A
    Cost from company $B
    Cost from company $C

Voted on by all owners ( at AGM), = majority rule :p

    * best you can hope is to be on the committee & "influence" the colour options made available ;)

Dislike! I'd much prefer to live in a harmonious environment. I can just see how this might turn ugly. Color is such a personal thing.
    So not looking forward.

I do strata gardening and own a couple, believe me it is rarely harmonious :(

Even if you think it is, it's likely that someone is disgruntled but won't/too afraid to speak up

Everyone has a different opinion or taste, some like loud music and others park where it suits them

This is why it will need to be voted on at an AGM, so majority make the choice to keep the majority happy:cool:

The only time it ever gets close to harmonious is in a block of 3-5 that are all owner occupied :p

*Recently had one where the hot water circulation system had a knock audible in 2 units, after 6 weeks of complaints the committee got it checked (no faults found) after 8 weeks one unit went to stay with family, after over 4 months the pump finally packed it in:confused:
All along the committee said "not our problem" (as they weren't directly affected) and deferred to the Strata Manager (they won't approve spending )

Get a colour plan developed by a paint company (dulux) or a commercial painting company and present that. That way its not "your" plan. Its dulux or a consultant. Along with their software "artist impression" of the actual site. They all usually charge a minimal consultants cost which can be applied to the paint cost. Option two is retain same colours. Most start with that and produce a side by side artist impression.

Cost wont vary with different colours. m2 being painted is exactly the same.
    Present with cost quote/s.

Dont give too much choice. Give two choices. When you give three choices it can impossible to get a majority of 50%+ and that leads to disputes or people thinking they didnt get a say.
