After a period of denial, my GP and I have decided to overhaul my diet to get my reflux under control!

Coffee, wine, chocolate, citrus, basically anything with caffeine, alcohol or high acid have to go, at least for the time being. I'd really like to find a hot drink in the morning and for social gatherings - decaf coffee is available but has anyone got any other suggestions for decaffeinated hot drinks? It's just too traumatic to think about wine and chocolate substitutes so I'm not even going to try. It's cold turkey on those for me!

Oh, this is easy! Roobois! It's delicious and caffeine free.

I particularly like roobois chai if you can find it.

Most cafes sell it these days. Woolies has it...it's ubiquitous.

Although I still love my morning coffee - after 10am it's onto the herbal teas for me. They are an acquired taste, that can take a bit of time to adjust to, but I alternate between camomile and peppermint.

Better on the waistline than substituting to hot chocolate!

Thanks Lizzie, I'll check out the chamomile, I don't think the mint is reflux friendly!

Wait till you get the next bad news like "no more carbs for you".

People struggle to understand how an asian like me can live without rice and noodles, as well as no pasta, bread, cakes .....

    The Y-man

edit - just scaring you! - the world has changed from 20 years ago when I got given this bad news, and today there are many low-carb products on the market like bread, as well as techniques like refrigerating cooked pasta and rice overnight.

I enjoy quite a few of the rooibos teas as an alternative. My favourite brand and flavour is English Tea Shop Organic Chocolate, Rooibos & Vanilla Tea (20 Bags)

it does have cacao nibs in it but is caffeine free I believe. There are other varieties of rooibos though if you look at the others English Tea Shop Organic Teas | Flora & Fauna Australia

I seem to manage well with two out of the three at any given time - although they are randomly interchangeable

There is all sorts out there now - you just have to find something that you like. Fortunately you can buy little sample sized packets of most nowadays. I also like the orange peel one, but blergh on the rose hip

I have reflux issues too. Probably never give up coffee. It can be successfully treated with medication. I use as required

But I drink this for a change, this brand is brilliant. But only buy saches, and only 47 calories. Tastes good too

That's why you need a good plumber, once he'd fixed the reflux valve on the boundary trap, everything worked perfectly. :D:rolleyes:
