The famous Cleo magazine has shut its doors and made staff redundant after nearly 40 years .
What other magazines have gone ?
Im surprised Playboy is still going ?

I heard that Playboy has stopped publishing fully nude women in their magazines. Interesting business decision.

    Paper magazines are dying.

I can't see a future for National Geographic under Murdoch's new ownership.

I am old school, I still like magazines etc, these days, not necessarily Cleo.

Some things die hard... I still like reading the paper on a Saturday

Some of the articles in Cleo were an education unto themselves. Have never seen the like since (early eighties!)

A colleague suggested, and I'm still not sure if it was in jest, that if these two mags could be merged into Horse & Hound magazine and still make a buck, then some continuance may be in order.

Although, it would be hard to anticipate the readership reaction to the "lucky dip" that the Sealed Section may become...

I regularly buy 'home' type magazines.. House and garden, home beautiful etc

I like looking at the pictures for inspiration for things I could do with my houses.

Recently bought Cosmo, as someone I know had an article in it ... what a load of dog poop the articles were. I don't now who their target market it but they were pandering to the lowest denominator of shallow sluttiness.

I'll stick to my House and Garden, Home Beautiful and Small Farms thanks

Lizzie, I'm not sure how to respond to this post, but I'm interested in how the 'someone you know" felt their article was perceived? (Not withstanding your pointed description of their medium...)

And why aren't Burke's Backyard and Better Homes and Gardens in your preferred list?

I suspect their target market responds positively ... Better Homes is too full of craft and cooking - I don't do either ... haven't seen a Burke's for ages, but still not my thing

Sometimes you don't want to read stuff online.

I often buy them as something to read on a plane.

I'm with Nemo - I like to sit and read them in the sun, at the beach, in the bath, slobbing on the couch, marking pages of things I want to follow up ... there is still something about paper

I don't like to read those home improvement magazines on the internet.

But then again, I don't like to read them on paper either.
