Watch out for Katoomba, it may be included in the Greater Sydney hotspot?

We will drive as we usually do, down the Newell (well away from Sydney) and cross the border at Albury/Wodonga. Stay with our son in Melbourne, then everyone at a family holiday house in Torquay. Only need bookings for overnights on trip down, easy as well away from holiday areas.

At worst we can have a week in Torquay (outside the Melbourne hotspot area) then take another week back through central Victoria and NSW.

But, as SA showed, things can change overnight.

OK then. Take 2 (or 3).

Have booked some really cheap accom in Tokyo for Jan 22 (< $150 per night for a family of 5 including b'fast!). Fingers x-ed, we can travel.

Well, I've pivoted and opted to try for the US again in Dec 21/Jan 22. Will park Japan for the year after (accom booked was refundable).

Cases in US are trending down, vaccine rollout of 1.5m doses a day, perhaps aiming for 2 mill a day and we've just got the first shipment of the Pfizer vaccine as planned. I'm feeling optimistic it'll happen this year. It better - the itinerary I've got is a doozy.
