    So, options are limited...
I'm currently thinking Tasmania, bringing bike (him) and a decent sized unicycle (me) to ride around.

What would your holiday ideas be for new year?

You do know that January in Tasmania is very wet. When we were there one January, the roads were busy with cyclists doubled over in the cold wind and rain.

We were at St Helens last January for the mountain bike trail - we purchased bikes off Gumtree and sold them before we left. Had a great time.

Not making any plans this year though - all seems too hard.

My younger sisters and parents went to Tas for one summer holiday. They left me with an aunty. It was the most boring week of holidays. We didn't even go to the shopping centre that entire time or do anything fun. I was over 12 and my parents weren't willing to pay for the airfare or accommodation for me. :(
Note, they didn't even visit the chocolate factory. What a wasted opportunity.

Anyway, it snowed there and we had the bushfires in Sydney the same time in that summer....

The east coast is the drier side of Tasmania. Cycling there would be good, (I suppose).

I could live at St Helen's. Oops, wrong thread

I'm currently getting facebook memories of my trip to Derby this time in 2017 (omg, that was 3 years ago!!!)

I wasnt expecting any leave this xmas (newish job), but looks like I might have between xmas and new year off. Thinking of heading to Barrington to camp, and then head to Wingham / Kiwarrak for some mtb riding

Gold Coast for me, now that my twins are 5 years old and more likely to enjoy/appreciate things a bit more.

Can’t make plans as border restrictions still in place.
Hoping to go to Melbourne (no problem) and return to Qld (where quarantine may be necessary?).

The way things are, I don't think we'll be going anywhere....too much uncertainty with potential border closures and backflips.

I have a large credit with an airline I will be looking to deploy (internationally) when the air clears in 2021 ie if/when we're vaccinated.

Plans are not certain yet until we are guaranteed what is happening with borders, whatever we do we will be driving so no real need to plan ahead right now.

Moving home lol, settling in 2.5 weeks. Also manage to book a few nights at a campground for multi-day hike over Christmas. It's only $15/night, so if we *somehow* are not allowed to head into regional, then that's fine with me.

Partner and I have decided we need a proper break this year... so for once we will not be using our 3 weeks off to reno another house! Hopefully sitting by the beach somewhere:D

That would be you "project managing" @Bon_E from the beach.

We're itching to visit friends in Melbourne, and thought of driving there, staying at Katoomba on the way down. We love Katoomba.

Our Melbourne friends are interested in meeting us in Katoomba, but with Adelaide having a flare up and the risk of us having to stay in some hotel quarantine, we'll stay put and see how early 2021 looks.

Also, they've said as soon as the borders were opened, everyone was heading away from Melbourne and getting any accommodation won't be easy. It never is around Christmas I guess, but likely to be even harder this Christmas.

Is there anywhere worth visiting this year for a few days that's not fully booked, overpriced, or teeming with other people? I think not.
