On the leafy North Shore of Sydney it appears that a local brothel is having to take on planning not to have a childcare centre built within 5m of their establishment.

Whilst planning laws prohibit a brothel application within 100m of a childcare centre, no one planned for the reverse.

    Interesting to see what eventuates.

“You need to look at the way in which the planning laws are crafted, it would be the entry of a brothel next to a childcare centre as opposed the other way around,”

Wow. How is that different apart from how they're written? o_O

Everything in planning relates to how it is written.

I can imagine complaints if it is established.

I imagine the brothel is concerned that once the child care centre is established, eventually there'll be a complaint about the brothel, which the brothel will have to deal with even if it's. Even a rubbish complaint costs time and money for a business to address. Enough complaints and the brothel will be out of business.

I'm wondering if its a calculated move to get rid of the brothel.

    Build childcare next to brothel.
Brothel is required to be shut down due to the rules + backed up by number of complaints of residents.

It's like moving next door to a pub, and then complaining about noise.

Or under a flight path, and then complaining about noise from planes.

It's annoying. But people do it all the time.

If operated 24/7 it sounds very convenient for the sex workers who also need childcare, and their single parent clients.
If both run professionally with appropriate security protocols in place I don't see a problem with it.

Without the sex industry imagine the rape/violence figures, pruds just don't want it near them.

This is going to be interesting.. It does seem hypocritical.. I don't think it will end well for the brothel if it goes ahead.

Surely they are open at different times of the day.

A definite dilemma for the planners and brotgel operator. Sames goes for a church setting up next door then pushing for the closure of the house of ill-repute.

If I was going to go to a brothel I would definitely not pick the one with a childcare next door!
