Child fall prevention vs fire safety

    I'm planning the installation of the necessary child safety devices in a first floor apartment - it is definitely good idea from a child safety perspective.

    However, I'm also thinking about fire safety (e.g. egress) and almost all options need more thought so you can easily exit in an emergency. It is very easy to set up a situation which could be impossible to escape from. Louvre windows are particularly tricky.

    Clearly the building code rules on ventilation go out the window as well (pun intended).

    No obvious solutions to this but hope we don't see people trapped in burning buildings.

    If anyone knows a cost effective supplier of 100-120mm louvre galleries for existing windows (Sydney) please let me know!
