    Hard to find good ones.
Some of my friends come up to Sydney and fly from here.

That is what we do. It is 2 hours further but just can't justify the price difference. Only time we go from Canberra is when we are using ff points.

Yeah, one of my mates usually catches the bus up and stays the night at our place.
Pretty easy on the bus these days, wifi and all.

A bus from Canberra to Sydney? What's that 3hrs? Doesn't seem worth it to save a few bob. I guess a backpacker might consider it - but what backpacker goes to Canberra?

    Is this what they do?

Sign up to the australian frequent flyer forum or abt, pointhacks or iflyflat newsletters.. plenty of help in there for cheap flights/upgrades.

I have an Amex platinum charge card you don't get the free flight directly, but once you have the charge card you can apply for a no-fee companion card the "Reserve", that has the free annual flight. The platinum 'edge' also has a free flight but is a bit more limited in destinations.

Otherwise I use skyscanner. The flight costs don't increase based on your usage. Skyscanner just reports whatever travel agencies are selling their tickets for. The closer you are to departure date the more likely you are to see prices jump.

It's better than what it was. Skyscanner shows return flights from $109, booking in advance. But it costs another $15 one way from the airport to the CBD. Buses start at $37 one way- you used to be able to pick them up for $25. So $139 return to CBD v $74.

Five one way bus trips gets you one free. And I can get in to Canberra CBD on a bus, saving taxi fares or parking.

I like the bus. It doesn't present the same hassles as the airport.

My friend is in a well paying medical job.
Sit back and relax on your laptop. Better than driving in the scary traffic if you're from little Canberra ;)

When using those sites they often use cookies to track what you are looking at then prices change accordingly. I know AirBnB does. You need to use a different computer or clear the cookies.

But Airbnb prices shouldn't change (unless Airbnb are bumping up their service fees?)

Does it make a difference if you're using a VPN?

I can't imagine this being legal. Besides, you can clear cookies from your browser. The mechanism will be different to clear cookies, on different type of browers (Chrome, IE & Firefox) But a google search will tell you how to clear cookies in all these browsers.

I've never been attracted to the pokies - might donate $10 if I'm waiting to meet someone.

My local bottle shop has a frequent drinker card. It gives you 10c to $2 and sounds like a slot machine. I'm sure it's purpose is to get people poking.

    Evil little creatures.
I've heard of some people getting addicted to them and losing a big chunk over time.
