What do you do to get the cheap flights?

We were getting 4 trips pa with Virgin as we had a platinum credit card, unfortunately they no longer do this... damn.

We have alerts for cheap flights, this is hit and miss, OK deals sometimes.

Just signed up AMX credit card, Platinum? this gives us 1 free trip pa in Australia.

Was told to use Skyscanner for cheap deals, however apparently if you keep hitting this site the prices will continue to rise, Big Brother..

    Looking for any tips

Need to be next level above platinum for cards in my experience.

Or just hunt out for specials as they come up. Need to be patient though and dates available might not always suit.

Yeah I agree, there is also conspiracy surrounding the "eyes in the pokie machines".
Never put your membership card in otherwise it will recognise you, also never put money in to them too fast otherwise it will think same person and eat it up, always bring a couple of wigs and some sunnies in case of camera with facial recognition.

If cheap is your thing just keep your eyes open. I've seen great specials advertised on this site for Tiger. I read an article on fairfax that Scoot is introducing one way flights from Perth to Athens for $369 - take a jacket the wing can get a bit chilly.

I just compare Tiger to Jetstar and have Jetstar price match. Saves 10% of the difference as well as not having to pay the credit card booking fee. Just have to make sure the Jetsar flight is within an hour of the Tiger flight.
Usually manage Sydney - Gold Coast return for around $60-80.

A big disadvantage about living in Canberra. It would cost me $160 return for me to get that cheap flight to Cairns. That's assuming I could even get the cheapest flight available on Skyscanner. It's the government providing much of the business. So there's no need for cheap airlines or competitive airlines.

Perhaps that's going to change. Cheap flights Canberra to Melbourne now a possibility.
