Anyone explore the option of cheap beach front property? Perhaps a weekender

Plenty of options in WA's South West

    238 marine pde cottesloe.

absolute prime location, just under 400 sqm from memory. bought in 2009 I think for $3.3m, sold late last year for $1.7m. while not cheap, incredibly good value imo.

personally weekenders etc down south are almost always a silly idea unless someone is already financially independent or close to it.

One of the main things is that Mindarie has no beach - you can have Marina front but there is no nice beach which is a shame. I think it would be more popular if it did. When Catalina Beach opens on the Mindarie side there is talk that they will be creating parklands and a beach with surf life saving patrols which will be a huge drawcard.

Now Mindarie high end is the definition of 'never ever ever recovered from the GFC' the Mcmansions in the original part and those on the newer groin have really struggled. When land on the groin sold at 1.2-1.5m at the peak of the market and then haven't built and taking losses on trying to sell the land etc. One house stood half built for a year but seems to be back under construction now.

I did - I was thinking Jurien but then I realised that whilst the kids are young it's a pipedream. Every weekend is full of sports and parties so getting away is just not possible. So we decided to move to the Swan Valley and live the weekender life.

Yeah....But never found anything cheap enough within travel range.

This one might be good for someone as a PPOR and doesn't mind a commute.
I live too close, so no good as a weekender for me.....

    Define 'cheap'

    7 Whitfield Street Lancelin WA 6044 - House for Sale #122259762 - realestate.com.au

It's not beach 'front' but you don't really want to be right on the beach in WA anyway.

We have a 'beach shack' in Lancelin and although a 'bad' investment it's worth more than anyone would ever pay for it just in terms of lifestyle.

Me too. There are a couple of shows on at the moment that have me seriously thinking about where do I want to live in retirement. Over the last couple of weeks, there's one show focusing on Hawaii rehabs and another on buying on islands off the coast of Florida.

I love my new home......but I long to be close to the beaches again one day.

Good question. Cheap is beachfront property that has possibly fallen back 30-40%

Perfect example is what Sanj mentioned, holy shoot, that is ridiculous...... and there you have it, Cottesloe is premier blue chip area in Perth and yet it got hammered, another myth.... blue chip is not bullet proof
