Yes, but my bet is that the profit will be shown as sale price minus purchase price minus reno costs. Meaning that CGT, stamp duty, holding costs, agent fees, solicitor costs, value of own work, etc are ignored. That's something that annoys me about most real estate shows, it's all make belief.

You make your money when you buy. So one would need good contacts with agents to get a good deal, buy off market through your own sources or buy a screaming good deal.

Cgt and stamp duty is just a cost of doing business. Plenty of people making good coin flipping in australia.

@DaveM would be able to hook you up with an off market renovator for a good price. If I had any spare leave, I would move to Adelaide for a few months to renovate.

    I've seen properties being flipped.
Channel 7 should get in touch with the previous owner of 11 melford street petrie terrace. Looks like the owner did it himself going hard like a handyman type. My guess is European bloke.
Bought it for about 500 and just sold it for about 850. Didn't have a major amount to do with market rise although that did help a bit.
That was a flip. Sorry I can't be bothered looking at all the details of the property I was just looking around the area at the time and I monitored what was happening with this one because I could see him working hard on it and I just had a feel that it was going to be sold off as soon as it fixed it all up.

Also Channel 7 I'm quite interested in television production so even though I don't flip properties can I please have a ticket to the show if the lead works out. I don't have a television so I won't be watching it. You're welcome

They should make a reality show where they film people scrolling on realestate.com and having conversations on propertychat about when Brisbane's going to boom. For an exciting episode they could even have the filming of a meet up at a pub on the inner southside of Brisbane that would be Wild

If it was done at one of @skater's Sydney meetups that would be an interesting show. Because even if you are there, you still don't get to hear what is being said at other parts of the meetup! So it would be good to have a transcript of the conversations.

Or people bickering with their builder about what parts of the build they are "allowed" to do.

Actually, something I have never seen on tv is regular people having their homes built. I have only seen expensive houses. Not ever run of the mill properties. A show like that would have been really useful for me.
