Wait... are there actually any flippers in here? Doubt it.. (unless they're playing in the US)

I'm a middle aged, property hoarding, ugly, boring rent collector, I don't look good in tight fitting clothes and have a head like a half sucked mango.

I feel I am ready for this opportunity.

probs wont work like all the fancy US shows that are now on. Numbers only stack up during a boom ie syd last few years and bulk of profite' comes from market mvements and smashing avo's ... (however there may be a few that could be doing effectively???)

perhaps we should have a show where investors sit back and watch the market increase without lifting a finger?

My fee for a TV appearance would make the show not feasible! :p

I am currently renovating a house that I could sell when complete... but I won't ;)

I would flip another house though. Maybe 18 months time in Perth. I will have to look at the market though. You don't make money flipping in a falling market

With Stamps and CGT you're lucky to make any money flipping even in a rising market... I'm not saying it can't be done, but way harder here in Aus.

Is there anyone on PC flipping??? has to be 1 or 2 around?o_O
I'd say ithere may be builders that flip on the side when work is slow or to keep guys busy, charge the costs to other jobs ;)

One of my clients was in contact with one of those shows and was informed he had to pay the tradesman used. No appearance money either.

If reno and revalue to release equity (as opposed to sell) were in the mix there might be a few more takers...

I would say it's very difficult in Australia. You really need to buy under market value, which is difficult in a rising market. Then you need to add serious value without spending too much. My current project is a 3x1 to 4x2 conversion without changing the footprint. It would be a profitable flip in a rising market. But I'm not selling. It's a positively geared splitter block with the house positioned to retain and build behind. Not selling something with that potential!

If there are flippers on PC they are keeping it quiet.

Yes to builders flipping. I went to an auction last year where Ian Kelley? of G.J. Gardner Homes in Perth bought 4 housing commission homes on one block. His plan was to demo and build 4 townhouses. The site is in Rivervale so it would have been profitable too if the market didn't collapse. So instead, he renoed the existing and sold them and also created 2 blocks to sell. Flipping is a lot more profitable when you are a builder.

As I understand it, it's not a good time for flipping in Sydney or Melbourne.
Plus fake reality tv sucks, if channel 7 was interested in making a factual program about actual investing rather than selling misleading get rich quick schemes, then I think a lot of people would be interested in appearing on it.

Even if I was flipping I still wouldn't do it unless there was 200k+ fee guaranteed... I'd hate to be trolled by all the viewers and would hate to being TV..too shy.
But anyone flipping at the moment wouldn't be making much after stamps and CGT anyway
You should do a show on reno/ holds instead so the public can see what it's like in the real world rather than what they see on all those U.S shows where they buy houses for 100k and flip for 250k, and they don't have CGT
