    Hi Guys,

What is a certifiers legal liability in regards to uncertifiable/unapproved building works.

If you buy a house and there are some existing building works that you suspect are illegal and don't want to raise suspicion with council, what is the best way to go about this? If i engage a certfier to come have a look and he deems it unfit, does he by law have to report this to council?

I assume that this would be a common occurence and would like to know how people dealt with the situation.

A Certifier would only look at it one way. Owners would look at it multiple ways.
