    Hi all,
Found information on the minimum height a balustrade needs to be, however my question is this:

    1. In Victoria, at what deck height (mm) off the ground is balustrade/handrail required?

    Cheers

The NCC ( section 3.9.2.2) says 1 metre.

The NCC applies to Victoria too - it's available free online.

I should be fine then, my deck is planning to be 580mm off the ground.
We wanted not to have and barrier around it and just a wrap around step.
Wanted to use some long terracotta planter boxes with 300mm box hedge to enclose it in a bit.
Il look into the regs referred above. Cheers

Depending on the local council you may not need building approval. In Bris if it's less than 1m above ground and less than 10sqm in area then you're fine.. (that's a small deck).

    Thanks.
Not concerned about building approvals, just the regs around max deck height off the ground before a rail/baulastrade is required.
