I didn't have a place to stay. Apparently the uni pub has closed.

I too turned up to a darkened Uni pub

Didn't check PC to see if/where it was moved to.....

Would definitely be up for the next one ... how was the Civic pub?? Haven't been there for a while.

Civic pub was full so we moved to ipho for dinner instead since we couldn't find anyone else. We should do monthly catch up!

I'd be interested in catching up with you guys, DH probably would too. I'm kind of glad sickness kept me home last night, I have no sense of direction and only a vague sense of where the unipub was so I would have needed to send up a flare! lol

My excuse is that I don't work in town, and I don't drink.
Price would have been $1 for the business plus stock at valuation. Presumably all existing pub owners in the area would have been aware of it.

I assume they would have to take on the previous business debts as well?

I don't know that that would be the case. I think that business debts are the responsibility of the previous owner, and anybody who is owed money has the right to pursue them for any debts.

I sold a business and the guy owes me a very substantial amount of money. He has declared himself bankrupt. He had no assets in his own name (he had a personal guarantee against the debt); his business companies had been transferred over to his wife, so nothing with assets is showing against his name. The person who bought the business is not liable for any of those debts; the proceeds for the sale (if there are any once the bank was paid back) went to his wife's company.

Sorry. I wasn't even sure where the pub was supposed to have been. I just couldn't find it, I wasn't even sure that it had closed down until you posted.

I wasn't planning on being around for a long time, my wife isn't well, so I didn't want to hang around waiting.

Look forward to catching up but not in work hours. I often don't know what a lunch hour is.
