Canberra - buying half of duplex block

    Does anyone have any thoughts on buying dual occupancy blocks and what to consider? I spoke to a builder and was told I'd need to get permission from the owner of the house on the back half of the block to separate services before they'd build there. I can't see why they would refuse this. Can I just ask them directly or do I need to go through a lawyer? Are there any other things to consider with this type of a block? It'd just be for a single detached house

    need some more information,
    are both houses on 1 title ?
    or is it strata title ?
    maybe a diagram would help.

    It is a type b unit title. I think it’s a weird Canberra thing. There is a house on the back half of the block and the front is empty.
