The once-booming Sydney areas leading the property market slowdown

@Jennifer Duke - I have no real comments on the article but there is a general quirk in how real estate stats are tracked and reported in Sydney. The Northwestern suburbs are never specifically callled out as a separate region to the west and south-west. This is something that could perhaps be looked at. Perhaps best to break it down at a suburb level because cutting it based on Council boundaries might not be representative. e.g. Some of Hornsby shire is upper north shore, whereas some of it is better characterised as "Northwest".

Funny you should mention this! I've been asking for a similar differentiation for some time. So watch this space! At the moment, the majority of the Hills is considered upper north shore in the data to my understanding, as opposed to the west.

I think going forward, the shape of the areas tracked will definitely need to change.

@Jennifer Duke - below from this article. It looks like "North west" has been separated out but what suburbs does this include?

It looks like "Central Coast" is missing from the legend.

That large pink "west" area could easily be broken down further:
    • North West Growth Centre
    • South West Growth Centre
    • Western Sydney Development Area
    • Blacktown to Penrith (areas predominatelty North of the M4 but also including Glenmore Park)
    • West (Parramatta, Granville and sourrounding suburbs south of the M4)
The norwest priority growth area and the south west priority growth areas might be a zones to separate out. You could use these boundaries (from this page).

Anyway - some careful thought need given big changes that will happen in the outer west in the next 10-20 years.
