Geez.... I'd probably buy something on one of the islands if it was $50k, not $300k. Nice idea and all but what I see is an extra pain in the butt commute each day if someone was to live there.
My thought is that for an extra $100-200k, you can get a decent slice of mainland Brisbane...
Convienence factor is very important for livability. Factors that adds to commute time is a no for me, and i'm sure for many others too.

Yep, normal rental. They have a job and everything ;)
Will probably do a bit more work to it this year.

How do you interpret that image?

I actually 1st heard of it in 2005 because someone I knew was retiring over there.

There is a medical centre. The ferry is 20 minutes to the mainland. Just like anyone in a retiree location - or any location really - they might not have a specialist strolling distance away.
Isolation factor? That's why people move to these places. To 'get away from it all'.
You would know there is an IGA that charges normal prices of course, and they have TV. Hoping to get electricity soon.

I think it's actually under contract.
Pretty good price for a waterfront house.

Good stuff @Azazel! I'm a fan, although I know little about it. Obviously you're aware it's a niche market, as people here have shown they're not familiar with the lifestyle.
The market for lifestyle type housing is only going to get bigger. Especially with work changing its not just for retirees! FIFO workers, self employed, part time workers, semi retired, then the weekenders and the beach shack people!
Are you familiar with Scotland Island on the northern beaches Sydney?

The commute would be quicker than Sydney traffic too!

    Cheers!
Obviously it's better to get in when the market is low, I'm surprised by people being negative when the sentiment is negative. You don't wait until sentiment is great and the market is high. Well I don't anyway ;)

And I don't think I had heard of it, but just took a look.
They have a really short ferry ride and everything? I'm guessing it's pretty expensive?
