Can you receive IP solar feed in tariff while tenant pays the bills?

E.g. If there are solar panels installed on the property, can you get paid for the feed in tariff, while tenant pays their actual electricity usage?

Prehaps not have them pay the usage (ie I don’t think you can sell them the power the solar generates) but rather the power that is purchased from the grid.

Ah so basically you can set it up so you receive the invoice (including tariff rate) then pass the grid charges onto the tenants? Is there any risk in doing so?

If it’s all written into the rental agreement then I couldn’t see why not. The risk would be an extra liability for you if the tenants did a runner as the power is in your name. Also how to you get the meter read between tenancies? Personally I wouldn’t bother unless you have one of those amazing feed in tariffs that are no longer available and don’t want to loose it.

Why not just sell the benefits to the tenant and raise the rent? Surely less paperwork.

From memory there was a bit of discussion about it in this thread.
Would you install solar on an investment property?
In a nut shell it varies between states depending on their rules and supply agreements.

If a resi tenant sees solar on the roof they will be expecting the full benefit
For commercial you could exclude the solar

If you wanted to use an IP as a solar farm for it to be "uncomplicated" you would want to put in a second/seperate meter.

In reality the feed in tariff isn't enough to make the expenditure and ongoing cost outlay worth it .......

I'd suggest that you don't try to penny pinch.
