Can you comfortably rest/sit in a squat position (for at least 3 minutes)?

I was working for an English company in Korea.
Watching English mates during Korean BBQ was great fun.

It's been something I've had to consciously work on for a couple of years to build the flexibility.
Years of running (tight Achilles and calves) and even more years of sitting at desks on computers has not been nice to all the muscles involved.
    Making progress though :)

My exercise physiologist/dietitian says it is our lack of flexibility that stops us being... flexible.

Too much sitting at desks or on the couch. He gave me the example of asians who can and do squat easily, even well into old age.

Squatting in the toilet is tiring, but can be good for your health.
A new design of toilet should be invented.

Same as the Aussie squat but replace the guitar with a few bottles of chianti.

I don't remember squatting being a prerequisite for Korean BBQ.

I do remember having to kneel at some low tables..

Parents and sister can Asian squat all the way down feet together, if I do...I fall backwards

Still can't do the above, but I can do this after years of squatting practice

Also, working on overhead squats due to shoulder (in)flexibility, at first I had to do with heels raised and only a broomstick, then an empty olympic barbell..next some weights

From a physiological point of view the flat foot butt near ground is not only a good position to poop in but it's also a great position to give birth in as it maximises your pelvic outlet and gravity also assists.
I can squat for ages but I'm not allowed at the moment due to a labrum tear in my hip socket as I can't keep the femur head in place and it will pop out. Thankfully no babies need to come out so I'll just keep procrastinating about having that operation to fix.

I couldn't before I started Pilates classes once a week. After a few months... no problems. From standing, I can now complete a flat footed squat and back to standing no problems.

@Gockie should be able to smash these being the athlete she is.
I just tried and they are very easy, just need enough momentum off the sit up to get onto your feet.
Even one legged alternating legs is pretty easy too.

    Can do and not Asian.
In fact I find it easier and more relaxing than sitting on the ground or in a chair. Otherwise id rather stand up or squat. Most of us bushies can squat, while chewing on a piece of dry grass stem.
Also do it every morning with the squatty potty, the most natural way to go to the loo.
Toilet seats were invented by the nobility, thats why they call it the "throne".
