    It currently is being developed.

So is this further development the one that is happening now or there's another stage later?

All i know is those tenants were supposed to be going to Charlestown but Westfields got them. I think it is for the works already underway.

Beautiful day mate. A bit quiet in the city. We drove around mayfield , waratah , lambkin, kotara and surrounds. Will look closely now.

Went up to Newcastle yesterday..a lot of Sydney people at the house visits.

Stay away from Jesmond..those houses with 5 plus bedrooms..the whole street is for sale !!
On inspection around jesmond i noticed "accomodattion available" signs everywhere.
I went up there to look at Jesmond Waratah because i thought this would be a growing area for uni students.
Well ...there are 5 houses in one street for sale..i soon found out the Newcastle university is not only building more accomodattion but adding more in the city so i guessed all the big houses that were providing student accomodation are getting out now while the goings good ??
second thing is on looking at a 6 bedroom student house i noticed 2 older man ..as tenants that wernt students..i imagine because theres TOO MuCH student accomodation now that you have to take others.
Transport is bad..you really need a car.
I think i would rather buy a Newcastle Taxi Plate than a house.

I wouldn't worry too much about the new student accommodation. More live off campus than on. Also not the only tenants available.

Girlfriends ppor is in that area. 60k gain in 6 months on a 240k property (3k reno) isn't too bad... must be a bad investment area as you say ;) Pretty sure Jesmond had one of the highest quarterly gains for nsw not too long ago.

Been watching the past sales. You still can pick up a decent fixer upper in mayfield west for the 300ks which may be a good investment. Mayfield is in the 400s. Tighes hill seems like it has really taken off lately! Ive never liked how the houses are like boxs with no land and your front door is right on the road though.

My company has an office on site there and I pay them rent each month but they go by so many names I still get confused. Comsteel/Smorgon/Bradken/Moly-Cop/Onesteel
Pretty sure the parent company is Arrium.

They laid off a lot of people last year but now that they've done that it's been pretty stable and business-as-usual for a while now. I haven't heard about any developments recently.
Anything in particular you want to find out? I can ask around a little

Thanks @Kirsti327 I too wondered if onesteel , comsteel and other companies around Mayfield still operate. I could see cars parked in the compound so I assume business is still carried out at those areas. The city is quiet in comparison to Sydney and you can always find parking. What's comforting is that there are the usual businesses in the city and the revitalisation of the esplanade suggests newy is serious in getting back the mojo and more.
