Can we assume our contract is now dead - Queensland specific please?

    Safety first is always a good option, and you can't trust a lawyer particularly if you received advice from one that you were on a dead cert:). There is no certainty in the law.

    you could have also entered into the second contract with a condition stating that your offer will go unconditional on, or after the first deal fell over.
