I've not had too many issues with whitegoods in the past and keen to get some advice on this situation.

Looks like the handle was actually molded into the top part of the door panel and does not seem repairable unless the whole door is replaced.

The unit is probably close to 5 years old.
Would it even be worth fixing, or should we just get a complete new unit installed with a renewed warranty ?

Can you just glue it back on or is there some kind of opening mechanism as part of it? Can you give their number a call and ask them? I have called them before and they are pretty helpful about approximate costs and what is or isn't covered in warranty.

My Dad's dishlex had this happen when it was still in warranty and dishlex replace the whole front panel. This was about 20years ago though.

Yes you can buy a front panel part only and swap it. Circa $150.

I suspect if it was glued back on, even with Araldite or some other strong glue, that 5hits gonna snap right off again with the first tug.
    Thanks

Otherwise if its local to you, find a broken unit on gumtree of same model and just swap the front door over

    How would that work?
Seems like part of the panel broke off with the handle.
Do you have a pic handy, of the handle?

    It's worth considering.
Some places will install and take away the old appliance as far as I know.
Haven't looked lately, but dishwashers don't seem to be too expensive these days, especially when there are specials on.

    Currently in transit Doha airport

remove rear cover of door, undo screws, remove existing handle, drill new holes for new handle

Found the solution on whirlpool common defect

Looks much better with new handle IMO

I agree. Appliances online will remove old appliances for free as long as they are unplugged and un-installed. But installation fee is a bit hefty maybe ask PM if handyman can do it as his call out fee will be cheaper than appliances installation fee

You can buy the front panel but need the model number to ensure you get the right one. We replaced one this year for about $80(ish) from memory.

This is how I fixed my 3 months ago. Bought this handle from bunnings Prestige 160mm Brushed Nickel Flat Bow Handle [IMG] Bought some thin flat aluminium strip and cut to size and drilled to suit to act as overlarge washers inside the panel.
    Metal Mate 20 x 1.6mm 1m Aluminium Flat Bar

Cut away the broken plastic handle, removed the top panel, drilled and fitted handle with the oversized washers.
Replaced panel and Bob's your uncle. About $12 all up, looks great, and should last the life of the dishwasher.
