As the title suggests, does anyone know if this is legally a no no or not?

The AirBnB has its own separate entry to the house.

Just curious as it would be a cheap place to stay when visiting home and I get to see the place!

Who's letting it on AirBnB - you or the tenant ?
Do you want to book that AirBnB for yourself ?

No, the tenant is the AirBnb host. Yes was seeing if there were any legal reasobs as a landlord why you can't stay there.

May be construed as access under the act and required notice required.

If it's not on a last minute website, then there's plenty of notice however the OP is paying for access so notice provisions may not apply.

I wouldn't be inclined to claim the cost as a property expense to keep things simple.

But you are ok with your tenant subletting to random people they don't meet or know (separate entrance?)?? What is in it for you?

Thanks, this was discussed in a old thread and the majority of responders thought the airbnb was a good outcome.

We also made sure insurance was happy with it and the house will be completely renovated before we move in.

Seems and interesting predicament. I'm not overly fussed but just interested in what the answer would be. I guess airbnb is still throwing up so many of these unknowns.

I really can't see an issue, provided that you use it strictly for private purposes so no deductions that may raise suspicions.

And sort it out with the tenant first, make sure they are ok with it before putting through a booking. Also fly it by the PM if you have one.
