Putting shelving into this area however the door currently opens inwards. There is no lintel holding up the brickwork.

Is the frame wood or metal?

Do you want the door to open out instead?

Timber frame, prefer to have it open out rather then install a sliding door.

Maybe. It's a bit hard to tell from the photos but best thing to do would be google some videos on hanging doors. Then look at your door and see if you think you can hang the door the way you want to.

It looks like it's possible as long as you can remove the doorstop without damaging the jamb, and swap it over too.

If I could run a circular saw up the hinged side of the frame I could do it but there is no room to make the cut. Not sure if there are any other tools I can get a clean cut with that close.

Looks like a storage room ... if all else fails maybe you can put a narrow roller-door on it instead? (ie roller-door like you expect to find on the front of a garage.)

Maybe I am missing something, but can't you just detach the door by unscrewing the screws on the hinges.. and then attach it on the other side of the frame using a different kind of hinge?

Without swapping? Having it swing toward the wall would be ideal.

Then you'd have to flip the door upside down, so the handle will likely be higher up.
And you'll still have to move the stop, or your door won't close.

The hinge needs to be removed from the door and the frame. Then the rebate for the hinge needs to be chiselled out on the door and on the frame. Then I would pre-drill a fine pilot hole and screw into place.

I don't find it easy to chisel out the rebates.

EDIT: and of course I forgot about the strike plate and door jamb as @vbplease noted above. It's been a while since I hung a door

I can remove the stop with a circular saw and reattach (I think), the jamb is more problematic because it's hard up against the wall

How is it attached? Nailed or glued? You should be able to pry it off. You might wreck it, but its only a cheap bit of timber...

how pretty do you want it??

match the existing hinge rebate and extend out to outside edge
then flip the hinges on the door and on opposite side.
    trim door down to fit
install beading for door to stop against

    Ruff enuff?

You could leave the jamb in place.

    1. remove hinges
    2. bog up the old hinge rebate
    3. chisel out a rebate on the correct side
    4. paint the frame
    5. hang the door

Maybe get a metal cutter and just cut straight through the guts of the hinge and leave the part of the hinge in place that is attached to the frame. It doesn't have to be beautiful... it's a storage room.

Not sure about that! I have bogged them up in the past. Sand back. Paint over. Like this:

Yes what I mean is, if you have trouble getting the hinge off the frame, maybe don't bother. Pic below.
