Say I subdivide and I have a battleaxe on the back, and it's exactly 500sqm which meets the minimum for attached dual occ for the council in question - is there anything stopping me from building an attached dual occ on the said battleaxe? Either side by side or front and back?

Suggest you just ask Council. Also check that you have enough room for an access driveway.

Read the LEP or consult a planner

For example Blacktown council has a single dwelling driveway minimum of 3.5m and 5m for a dual occ shared driveway. Which means your 'handle access' would need to be 5m wide.

That is from memory, could be wrong.

That should only relate to the section of the common driveway which both dwellings share.

I was under the assumption that as both dwellings on the back block share the whole access driveway meaning the whole access handle would have to be 5m, from street front to the start of the back block.

@Danieljk101 - for a pair of d/o at the back of a block that's probably right too.
