Its true. Getting past about 2 I found hard. Now if I want to continue I think cashflow is key.
Sounds like you are set to do well, still very young. Buying the right properties at the right time is the most important thing in investing. Being under 30 you have heaps of time to ride all the cycles and with all the knowledge on here you are set. :)
I love how my properties have been increasing way more than my salary each year, (whoo hoo, go Sydney). I know it goes in cycles though. But honestly, how else can I make massive money without too much stress on a not too stellar income? Property investment is doable for almost everybody if they just get some education.

I really enjoy my life and i'm setting up my retirement.
    I'm happy. :)

Perhaps you don't know the definition of partnership?

I cant refer to him as Spouse or husband so....

Anyway, I look up to Kathrynd. No way I'd go anywhere near the level of frugality she has, I work at my level. My level makes sense to me.

Stop thinking materially what he is and look up the definition of 'partnership'

A partnership is an arrangement where parties, known as partners, agree to cooperate to advance their mutual interests.

I think it would be hard to manage your money if you had quite different spending habits.
I don't think I could personally ever go out with a spender. Luckily, while my partner isn't tight, she isn't a big spender either. The way that we manage our money is that we each get our salary into our different banks and then transfer the bulk of that into a common account. The ~$300 she doesn't transfer is her spending money per fortnight and I use either my account (mainly for property) or the common account. She also has a card to access the common account, but doesn't like to have access to that much money, so the card still hasn't been activated.

How do you feel about the fact that - if, as I gather, you live together, and have done for some years - he'd almost certainly get some of your IP equity if you separate?

He stated abundantly clearly in an email a few years back that he has no financial interests in my property investing then or into the future. That was the full content of the email. I replied and agreed/signed off with what he wrote. This is our agreement we agreed to. It hasn't been reviewed by any legal types but all our actions over the past years has been based on this premise. Split finances.

He inherited a third of his dads place when his dad passed away and I did not get any of the proceedings of that. That is completely ok with me. Our finances are separate and its clear whats mine and whats his.

If you're comfortable that he'll never challenge that, that's fine. What you've written up and the fact that you kept your finances separate, though, will be of little consequence if it's challenged. Obviously, if you have a child together, all bets are completely off.

With a net worth of $57 billion he still lives in the same home he bought more than 50 years ago for $31,000 and drives an ’06 Cadillac.
    Ingvar Kamprad
$33 billion the creator of IKEA furnishes his modest house with the very furniture that made him rich. Plus he drives around in a 15-year old Volvo. He even flies coach while traveling
    Azim Premji
$17.1 billion courtesy of tech-services giant Wipro. One of the richest men in India, Premji drives a Corolla, flies coach and stays in company guest houses while traveling on business. He even used paper plates for his son’s wedding
    Jim C. Walton
Walton inherited his $16.4 billion dollar fortune from his dad and adds to it through the vast empire that is Wal Mart. Walton drives an old Dodge Dakota
    John Caudwell
A bit of a lightweight on this list with a net worth of a paltry $2.2 billion, Caudwell sets a new standard for frugality. He cycles 14 miles to work every day and cuts his own hair so as not to waste time at the barber, and even buys his clothes off the rack at Mark’s & Spencer’s

This is really just media BS, seriously do you think the media or the world actually know how these people live??

I recall an article on Bill Gates also quoted as living an average lifestyle, give me a break his holiday home is worth over $16M, but of course certain aspects are deliberately left out for a reason, why is that? its obvious.

Some of these posts remind me of comments I used to get, often, when I caught up with friends at my most frugal. (See $35/week for everything I consumed).

Having dinner, coffee, a drink or seeing a movies etc is all good and well but boring, generic and costly.

When I was at my tightest, most times when I arranged a catch up I would be told how interesting it was and be profusely thanked for doing something different and fun. Not to mention, FREE.

Who would have thought walking by the river at night and watching a moonrise, a leisurely bike ride during the day, hanging out in the park or watching a complete sunset would arouse such comments.
