    Hi Everyone,

When searching on Google is their a way where you can limit your search to a particular website?

For example, if I wanted to search negative gearing on Google but only want pages from Property chat, would this be possible?

I've tried Google for an answer but it's not very clear for someone not as technically advanced.

    Thanks :)

Like this: https://www.google.com.au/search?q=site:propertychat.com.au+negative+gearing ... click the link and then look at how the search text is structured in the search bar.

That being said - if it is PropertyChat you are wanting to search, our search engine actually works pretty well.

At some point in the near future I'll be implementing ElasticSearch, which will expand the search capabilities of the site quite significantly.

However, the Google trick still a useful tool to use for searching other sites - I use it all the time (especially on Somersoft where the search engine isn't anywhere near as good).

Just a FYI but site:blah blah is a very powerful tool.

    Just want to search australia?
    site:.au whatyouwanttosearch
Just want to search Australian govt sites?
    site:.gov.au
Just want to search a local gov website (my fave as their search is often crap), vincent used in example
    site:.vincent.wa.gov.au whatyouwanttosearch

While we are at it, is there anyway to restrict date to get websites updated in the past year for example?

When you do your search, see the line underneath? You can choose results based on location or time.

Thanks DT I never knew about that. I had to give the search tools button a click first to get the second line to appear.

The irony of this thread is that a google on how to do google searches would've been much quicker, hahaha.
