@indiantiger you sound smart and ambitious. An annual salary of high 100k is fairly common in IT. Annual salaries of 200k, 300k and more is very achievable if you work for a Fortune 500 technology company.

There’s really no rush like you said, people in IT hop all the time.

Has anyone suggested Carrum Downs? It is very popular with Indians. There is a large temple complex and many Indian businesses are being established nearby. Houses within walking distance to the temple sell quickly to Indian families. Also the cricket club in Wedge Road is very popular with Indians.

No. The title is misnomer. He wants to buy in a suburb with good schools and established facilities close to city like everyone else. But on the roads and schools he wants to see some indians. So more of indian/chinese aspirational suburbs like glen waverley.
On that thought it will be interesting to know what is aussie kiwi english italian greek and other ethnicity aspirational suburb in melbourne? And is it same suburb as where they are found most commonly? Not what you personally think but what your ethnicity thinks according to you.

No problem at all with finance these days. If you apply in time, you may be able to collect cash on the way home from the airport.

May be OP need to re-think as this suburb would not make it to his list as it is not safe anymore. Imagine living in a house in a suburb where you barely meeting your living costs but family back home thinks you are doing great.

How about Ivanhoe? Not much crime, prestige, status, good schools and “Indians”.

P.S I am a new member, reading this thread made me tempted to join. An Indian living here for 15 years, following somerset and now this forum for a long time. Have 4 IP’s but currently living in west with no mortgage on PPOR and don't give a f*** what my family thinks back home where I live and which car I drive. I wanted to get away from all that and it was the reason I moved here. Otherwise, I had a decent job and house back home.

One piece of advice, if you want to live happily have some exposure to different ways of life, have a couple of overseas trips, go different countries understand their culture. Your kids would thank you later in their life to give them all that exposure instead of making your family feel that you have done great.

    Back after a few months

How is the market looking for Glen Waverley ?

Cannot understand the actual scene from here as the agents are hiding the prices of the sales

Someone suggested that I should look out for Ashwood also
Much closer to the city and yet more reasonably priced
    Any thoughts ?

Indian-born migrants are the 2nd top immigrants by size in Melbourne compromising 3% of the population. The Indian-born population continues to grow.

    1. Laverton 15% Indian
    2. Williams Landing 15% Indian
    3. Albion 15% Indian
    4. Sydenham 11% Indian
    5. Dandenong 12% Indian
    6. Springvale 11% Indian

These are the suburbs with the largest Indian populations and they should work with your budget. Generally, search for homes in Melbourne's North-West and South-West.

    Other affordable suburbs are higher.

Eg from the 2016 census Tarneit is nearer 19%. Also Tarneit has more parents born in India than Australia. 2016 Census QuickStats: Tarneit

Truganina is even higher on 20%. 2016 Census QuickStats: Truganina

I would like to buy on the eastern suburbs only maximum by Glen Waverley

I am not looking to any other direction

My first choice is Glen Waverley, but as it is slightly out of budget, was thinking of looking at Ashwood
Any thoughts on Ashwood college ranking ?
Can’t find any clarity on it
Is it in the top 100 colleges ?

Yes, this is true. But you might have missed OP's requirements at the start of this thread and at few other points as well.

He wants to live in a PRESTIGIOUS suburb as has to maintain his STATUS back home so not sure he would consider these suburbs.

Don't ask me the reasoning behind this (as I don't agree with a lot of this) but you can read back in the thread to get some idea.

Fijian indian living here for 30 plus years.

Maybe stay back home and keep your "Prestige and Status" intact... just a suggestion.
