It usually doesn't feel quite right at the best of times, but 4.30pm today, lots of people at the grog shop in Kununurra on the way home from work. Couldn't believe there were 3 police officers taking and recording ID outside the shop. Then you still have to provide it again inside the shop as usual for counter staff. Looking for grog runners maybe?

Nah, they were trying to work out where the parties were going to be tonight just in case there's a flare up.

Nope. Parties are very easy to find on the grassy area directly opposite the grog shop.

Not sure? I can say that since they started having cops at all the bottleO s in Katherine that crime dropped by 40 percent....It's the most successful crime reduction strategy ever witnessed in the town. The locals can't believe it.

Must be similar then. It certainly can't do any harm, just feels a bit full on having to go through two layers of security to buy a bottle of wine. Shows how big the alcohol problem is here though.

A bit like at one of my IPs, a few years back the local aged care facility started to employ a security guard to man the entry at night. Apparently crime (eg. theft) in the immediate area plummeted with that action. Good for me.

I must be a minority. I drink less on Easter.

I seem to binge drink more during other times.

I find it very bogan to be trying to get smashed on a long weekend
