You are unlikely to get any capital growth in apartments in Canberra for at least a few years. GEOCON is releasing thousands of new apartment in the next 18 months alone. However, it is now a buyers market and you should be able to pick up a relative bargain in a 1-2 bedroom apartment range. While you may not get the capital growth if you go PI loan you should be building equity within the asset using the same money that you would paying rent.

Not new to most Canberra watchers on here. Hard to see it changing in the near future. I think houses will move strongly over the next 10 years and ACT Government will continue to roll out heaps of apartments along the light rail corridors.
