Hello fellow PC folks! Been around the blocks a few times; contributing and liking posts here and there, but I have never actually introduced myself properly. So here goes: 1. We have been investing in property since 2006. Not very long but we have been fortunate with good capital growth and healthy rental yields. 2. Our risk profile is quite conservative. We are long term buyer & hoarder - definitely a keeper not a flipper. We've tried some other avenues of investments (shares, subordinated notes, etc) but properties remain our preferred choice. 3. We believe in disciplined (and rather vigorous) debt reduction strategies. Our goal is to be self sufficient regardless of who is in charge, what comes about or whether this world is gonna end tomorrow or not. 4. I am a PC addict. This site is a treasure trove of information - but I absolutely cannot stand those who troll or belittle others just because they have a different point of view. Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn if you're a doomer or a gloomer, a fanatic or an atheist, a dreamer or a spruiker. I'm interested in those who walk the talk. Some members in PC chats are very generous with their advice and ever so helpful to others. I am keen to learn from these quality contributors. That's pretty much all that I am willing to divulge. BTW, don't let my profile picture fool you. I am part of the growing sisterhood in PC. I love it that we have so many successful women in this neck of the woods. RiMo
Hi @Rightyo Mio Sounds like you have done well in the Sydney boom Love your point 4 - everyone has their own path/strategy, and posts that belittle others or troll add no value to the forum and its members. Perhaps they feel insecure in what they have achieved (or not achieved for that matter). There are a number of successful people here to learn from We have learnt a lot, and have formal and informal mentors, who are very successful - better to surround yourself with those who say you can, rather than those who say you can't! Are you coming to the Sydney meet up?
Hi @monalisa! I'd love to one day be able to come to one of these meet-ups. Hopefully sooner rather than later Speaking of successful women, I love your (and your sister's) success story. Yours is a good example of what can happen when hard work is combined with good strategy, sheer determination and the right team. The best is yet to come
Now girls, tell me a little bit about yourself: what do you love to "buy and hoard" besides properties? Are you into shoes, handbags, books, designer clothes, jewelry, pets, dvds collections, etc, etc? I recently tried to learn the different notes in the world of fragrances and perfumery (especially the classic ones); it was such an interesting world. Still deciding whether I want to start my own little collection
Hi Rightyo, I've been a horder of language learning materials and books..... And I've got a collection of way too many clothes (and shoes). Having 2 Airbnbs means I've got a lot of towels and sheets etc. In terms of Fragrances I like Ginger Flower room spray, and I like Grapefruit foaming soap from Aldi, and Jasmine foaming soap by Palmolive is also really good. Yes.... i'm a practical gal...
Wow.. how many languages do you speak, Gockie? I am a bilingual. They say one of the things you can do to keep diseases like Alzheimer's at bay is to learn a new language
I absolutely love books. What kind of travel books, Madhu? Lonely Planets or something from Bill Bryson? And where have you been travelling?
My mother looooves shoes. She doesn't live with us but I have a whole wardrobe full of her shoes in our guest room plus her old ones in our shed!
Sadly, I really only speak 1.... but if I lived in HK for a while I'm sure i'd be conversant in Canto in no time...
I'd love to be able to speak any dialect of Chinese. That would be awesome; imagine the opportunities! But I just don't have the tongue for it
Lol gonna be boring here but I'm still only collecting assets. I do have a large collection of French language materials from a while ago. As for shoes, handbags, perfume well I can't help
