Yes, no independent suspension -> no wishbone -> no problem!

Technically there's a lower wishbone on the front - so better to go for a dual live axle like a Suzi Sierra/Jimny .... or a Lada Niva if you want Euro....

Those Lada Niva's, didn't they come with a Russian grenade launcher as well as a full size spare tyre?

    Yep

    I had one :)

Was very advanced for its time in terms of design.

Let down a bit by poor materials quality, usual Fiat/Lada issues of the day

Regular preventive maintenance and some aftermarket bits and they are ok, orphan cars like that are not for the fainthearted.

Coil spring full time 4wd with centre diff lock, with Pirelli CN36 rubber, not much could keep up in windy roads in the wet,

Only the Range Rover had that sort of stuff....and the rangie of the day wasnt much better reliability wise

I pre-ordered one off the first boatload for $25,990 driveaway. I gave away my pre-order after driving one.... it was... unsuitable...

Second dumbest car decision of my life.

Now you can't get the damn things for less than $30k and there's a ridiculous wait on them. Instead I bought a Renault that's lost 30% of its value in less than two years, oops.
