not my property, but apparetly the HWS burst the day after a tenant left,
water leaked for days, and agent is now saying carpet is saying beyond repair

given its pretty hot in melbourne,
do carpets dry out or when they are soaked they get beyond repair

its a small 2bdr unit, almost arpatmetnt size,

now off to find a cheap caret repair method,
    Im not DIY competant

    Agent's probably right.

We had something similar happen in an IP - but was attended to quickly (within a few hours).

The carpets were pretty bad - and most had to be replaced. Insurance paid for it though - thankfully!

Bunnings usually has cheap supply/install when it comes to carpet.

    Cheers

Need to have the water extracted. Then blow dried. Deodorised. Restretched. Removed and replaced.

You might be able to get a roll of deleted line carpet from your local carpet store. That sort of stuff is usually out the back. Worth asking. I have done this with lino and gotten some really nice stuff.

I did the same with offcuts for an IP years ago. Amazing quality 100% wool carpet for less than the cheapest acrylic. Amazingly, they had a remnant that was 7 metres long! It looked great installed and wore really well.
