Frankly i think the word mentour is now the modern trendy in term now
Along with empowering and financial advisor

I do believe a mentour can assist but the fundamentals need to be there in you.

A lemon is a lemon no matter who mentors you.

Obviously depends on which industry or goals

A good mentor will be able to teach you how to make lemonade

Perhaps you should read some of the scary posts on this forum about mentors, pretty good at helping investors lose money.

This is actually a fine point and I agree 100%.

I have been mentored by others and I know for a fact it has benefited me in a very tangible way. When it comes down to it, yes tangible meaning translated into $$$ made.

Everyone just has to do what's right for them at the particular point in their investing path. But for the people who dismiss it outright, personally I think its a mistake. Is it a 'must' for everyone? No, I don't think it is at all.

But lets not forget, this forum is really a huge mentor to many, many people. So the concept of mentorship is not disputed in effect, it's really who is 'qualified' enough and who will most beneft by it.

Each person has to decide for themselves.

    Just my 2 cents.

Should have added a smiley face to my comment.

Am very wary of mentors, they don't last and 99% become sprinklers eventually to keep their cashflow/ business going.

If one tries to outsource financial independence, that's just wealth transfer from you to someone else.

A retort might be "you don't know what you don't know", but then, proceed with caution

    My personal opinion

A mentour is someone who guides you. Thats their main job. Obviouslt teaching is a part of it.

A teacher does the bulk of the teaching.

Obviously a teacher and mentour can be the same person

Eg a teacher will teach you how to swim fast, technique etc

While a mentour might guide you on how to become an olympic swimmwe in terms of which competition to enter etc etc
