    Hey PC,

Does it cost more to build on class 5 Acid Sulfate Soils (ASS)?

    1. I did a quick search and from what I can tell (
Getting council approval on acid sulphate soils | SESL Australia), if you don't dig more than X deep and poke the bear (based on soil testing), everything is ok?
    2. How much does a preliminary soil inspection cost?
    3. Council website says this was current as at 2013. Could things have changed since then?
    4. Can the ASS inspection (no jokes pls!) be performed prior to making an offer?

Acid Sulfate Soils - Sutherland Shire Council

    Class 5
Acid sulfate soils are not typically found in Class 5 areas. Areas classified as Class 5 are located within 500 metres on adjacent class 1,2,3 or 4 land. Works in a class 5 area that are likely to lower the water table below 1 metre AHD1 on adjacent class 1, 2, 3 or 4 land will trigger the requirement for assessment and may require management.

In what types of situations would works in a class 5 area impact land within 500m?
